George Hicks High remembered

A new project marking a milestone
in Cayman’s education history is looking for support.

As plans for the Cayman Islands’
two new high schools fall into place, it is anticipated that the George Hicks
High School will be closing after thirty years as the Cayman Islands’ first
middle school, and second high school.

To mark the occasion, the combined
Home School Associations from all four academies at George Hicks: Pace, New
Horizons, Heritage and Leading Edge, are putting together a commemorative

To make the yearbook a reality, the
Home School Associations are seeking advertisers, sponsors or donations from
local companies.

The yearbook will take a walk down
memory lane beginning with the opening of the Cayman Islands Middle School, the
changeover to George Hicks High School, the separation into four schools and
now the culmination of one of Cayman’s landmarks.

Past teachers, Education Department
personnel who were instrumental in the school’s beginnings and the current
student body and their achievements will be profiled.
