The
2010 Miss Teen Cayman Islands pageant will be staged at the Lions Centre, Saturday,
28 August.
Those
interested in competing in the eagerly anticipated annual event must comply
with the following requirements:
The
academic requirements make up half of the overall screening process.
Provide most recent academic report
Provide three letters of reference
(one of which must be from a
teacher) attached to the completed application form. References must not be related to applicant.
Attach a hand-written essay authored
by you (100 – 150 words). The topic
should be about what is important to you and how you would advocate it in your
role as Miss Teen Cayman Islands.
The contestant will be subject to a
preliminary evaluation in order to ensure the ability to fulfill all the
responsibilities and good command of oral and written communication skills.
Applicants must submit a completed
application form signed by a parent/guardian.
Non-refundable application fee of
$25 must be submitted with application form (see 1 above).
Contestants must be between 14 and 17;
however contestants should not turn 18 before the date of the pageant, and
should be 14 as of the date of the pageant.
A passport size photo must be
attached to the completed application form.
Provide copy of police certificate
(in a sealed envelope) with completed application form.
Proof of Caymanian Citizenship (by
birth, status holder or otherwise).
On the night of the pageant each
contestant must perform a talent, therefore must be prepared to learn or practice
an existing talent leading up to the pageant and must be confirmed within three
weeks of entering the pageant.
On the night of the pageant each contestant
must make an appearance in swimwear, casual wear and formal wear, and talent
(see 7 above). For the opening
appearance, the contestants will perform an opening dance.
Contestants must not be a
reigning titleholder for any other pageant.
Each contestant must seek their own
sponsorship no later than Friday, 25 June. Please note that any additional expenses in
excess of that provided by the sponsor will be the sole responsibility of the
contestant or her parent/guardian.
All contestants must complete a
mandatory 10 hours of community service.
This
year’s event is being sponsored by the Leo Club of Grand Cayman, LIME, the
Caymanian Compass, Radio Cayman and the Ramada Grand Caymanian.
