Sunset Football Club will be
bringing another superstar sportsman over for their annual fundraiser – former
world heavyweight champion Frank Bruno. England World Cup winners Geoff Hurst
and Jack Charlton were the previous celebs Sunset brought over but this time
it’s the popular boxer.
Bruno will be the guest of the club
at Fidel Murphy’s on Saturday. Organiser Neil Purton said: “Frank will have
many stories to tell including his two fights with Mike Tyson, winning the
world title against Oliver McCall and fighting Lennox Lewis.
“Aside from being a boxing legend
Frank is also one of Britain’s best loved sports personalities. In addition we
will also be auctioning memorabilia including boxing gloves signed by Mike
Tyson and photos autographed by Ricky Hatton, Henry Cooper, Joe Frazier, Lennox
Lewis, Jake La Motta and many more.”
Tickets are $75 and include a
buffet meal. So that the pub is not too crowded there will only be a limited
number of tickets available and they will be sold on a first come first served
Purton added: “In addition to the
Saturday event we will also be hosting a Frank Bruno Golf competition at the
North Sound Club on Sunday 23 May.
“This will be a two man scramble
event with a shotgun start at 1.30pm. We have lots of prizes and Frank will be
on hand throughout the afternoon from 12.30pm to meet and greet golfers and
also to make sure that everyone behaves!”
The cost is $50 entry fee per
player which will also include a meal in the club house afterwards catered by
Eduardos. Sunset also have the usual Caybrew sponsorship for this event. For
non-golf club members they have negotiated a members guest rate of US$100 which
will be payable directly to the golf club shop.
