Celebrate the Queen’s birthday

The public is invited to attend the
annual garden party at Government House to celebrate the Queen’s birthday, this
Saturday.

Although the monarch turned 84 on
21 April, convention dictates that her birthday is officially celebrated in
June.

The garden party, which is always
held at the Governor’s official resident on West Bay Road, starts at 10am and
finishes at 11.30am. Complimentary food and refreshments will be served.

A popular event in Grand Cayman’s
social calendar, the Governor Mr. Duncan Taylor and his wife Marie-Beatrice
will host the event. According to the Governor’s Office, The La Pierre Family
Steel Band will perform and the Cayman Islands Cadet Corps and local scouts
will take part in drill displays.

The dress code for the tea party is
smart casual, so a collared shirt for male attendees is advisable. The tea
party follows the Queen’s Birthday Parade, which will take place in front of
the Legislative Assembly from 9am.
