Teen accused of murder sent to Grand Court

A
teen-aged male has been committed to Grand Court to stand trial on a charge of
murder, following a preliminary inquiry in Summary Court on Tuesday.

He
is accused of murdering Marcos Mauricio Gauman Duran, 29, at Maliwinas Way,
West Bay, on Thursday, 11 March, 2010. Because the defendant was 16 at the time
he allegedly committed the offence, he will not be named.

Attorney
Ben Tonner agreed on his behalf that there was sufficient evidence for the
matter to go to Grand Court. On that basis, no witnesses were called at this
stage.

Chief
Magistrate Margaret Ramsay-Hale remanded the teen in custody for him to return
for the opening of the next Grand Court session, which is on Wednesday, 7 July.
