Book-signing a success

Local
author Cathy Gomez recently launched her debut book, Coping with Sudden Job
Loss, at Books by the Bay in Grand Harbour.

Ms
Gomez, who lost her job almost four years ago, said that she was heartened by
the number of family and friends who came out to the event.

“I
would like to thank special family and friends who took the time to make this
event an unforgettable one. I was especially touched by the number of people
who wanted to sit and share their own experiences, some from more than 20 years
ago,” she said. “There was even someone who I worked with while he was in
prison, who was so happy to have his own copy. I know that he has a keen
interest in books. Classmates that I have not seen in quite a while were there,
and a friend from overseas. It is my hope that each one will be blessed by the
message of my book and that they will share with others who are in need.”

Coping
with Sudden Job Loss explores the emotional effects of unemployment, provides
insight into coping strategies, and implications for pastoral counselling. In
addition, there are suggestions for initiatives that workplaces can introduce
to minimize the stress of sudden job loss for employees.

The
book is available at Hobbies & Books, Book Nook, Books & Books and Christian
Enlightenment Centre.
