Last year, according to the Cayman
Islands Department of Tourism, more than 1.5 million tourists stepped off
cruise ships in George Town or Spotts Dock.
They headed for taxis and buses to
take them to Stingray City or Seven Mile Beach while others wandered across
Harbour Drive to check out the duty-free and jewellery stores or went straight to
bars to sink Mudslides and daiquiris on Cayman soil.
But with some days bringing up to 14,000
cruisers to town on six or seven cruise ships, how well is George Town handling
the influx and how will that change if cruise ship berthing is introduced?
