The Cayman Islands Fire Services and
the Department of Environmental Health are currently working to contain a blaze at the Cayman Brac landfill which began Sunday.
Sources on Cayman Brac said the blaze, which was well raging early Monday, has since been knocked down – although wispy white smoke columns could still be seen rising from the site Monday afternoon.

Carter have visited the scene to view the containment efforts.
The fire started around 4pm Sunday
in the scrap metal/derelict vehicle section of the landfill. The Fire Services
responded and the blaze was contained by 6pm. that evening.
It rekindled a short time later and crews have been working to extinguish it
