An 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with a shooting in West Bay last Thursday. Justin Devon Manderson appeared in summary court on Tuesday. He was remanded in custody until 6 July.
Around 8.40 p.m. on Thursday a man was shot near Kelly’s Bar in West Bay. A friend conveyed him to the Cayman Islands Hospital where he was treated for a leg injury. He was released from hospital following treatment.
The victim has since been released from hospital. He was identified by relatives and friends as Andy Barnes.
Earlier this year Mr. Barnes’ four-year-old son Jeremiah was shot to death in an attack outside a West Bay petrol station.
The 18-year-old man was arrested on Thursday night and he has now been charged with attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
