Justin Devon Manderson, 18, has
been remanded into custody following his appearance in Summary Court on Tuesday
in connection with a shooting in West Bay last week that injured Andy Barnes,
the father of a 4-year-old who was killed in February.
Mr. Manderson, of West Bay, is
charged with attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm, a
pistol, following the shooting near Kelly’s Bar about 8.40pm on 24 June.
Defence Attorney Lloyd Samson
declined to make bail application until the Crown provided disclosure as to the
strength of the evidence.
Solicitor General Cheryll Richards
told Senior Magistrate Margaret Ramsay-Hale that the bullet went through the victim’s
leg. She confirmed that she was prosecuting on the basis of intent.
The case was adjourned until
Tuesday, 6 July.
Mr. Barnes was treated at Cayman
Islands Hospital after the incident and released.
