Women badly hurt in hit-and-run

Two women were recovering from what
police described as “major injuries” after being hit by a car while walking
along Mount Pleasant Road in West Bay Wednesday night.

The driver of the car that struck
them left the scene, police said. No arrests had been reported in the case at
press time.

Both victims were taken to hospital
and were being treated for serious injuries, according to Royal Cayman Islands
Police Inspector Anthony White.

Hospital officials listed both
ladies in stable condition Thursday morning.

The hit-and-run driver had not been
identified and was not in custody by early Thursday.

“The vehicle is described as silver
in colour and has a spoiler on the rear trunk,” Inspector White said. “There
were possibly two occupants, one male and one female, in the vehicle at the
time of the accident.”

Anyone with information about the
accident is asked to call PC Stacyann Stewart at 949-4222, or contact Cayman
Crime Stoppers at 800-(TIPS).
