Five in custody for pizza robbery

The Royal
Cayman Islands Police has announced that five people have been arrested
following the robbery of a pizza delivery driver on Wednesday 28 July. 
The incident occurred as the driver attempted to make a delivery in Billy
Manderson Drive, West Bay at around 10pm.

The five,
one woman, one juvenile female and three juvenile males, remain in police

Acting Chief Inspector Frank Owens of the West Bay Police Station thanked the
community for assisting the police in their crime fighting efforts.

“I want
to thank the community of West Bay for assisting my officers in their
investigations in this matter and similar ones in the last few weeks where
arrests have been made in all cases,” he said.

He went on
to remind the public that information provided to the police will be treaded in
strictest confidence and urged companies offering delivery services to make
sure to verify that orders that are being placed are genuine.

  1. Not that it’s relevant. The judge will likely give them a $2.00 fine and let them go. Cayman justice system needs to take a few lessons from Britain before it ever becomes a deterrent. to ANY crime Until they start imposing appropriate fines & sentences, we WILL continue to see crime rise here. Mark my words.

With crime whirling around the Island (unfortunately again), it did my heart good to read that the community seemed to step up, and help….and that is what it will take every single time……Keep it up, let the criminals be afraid of you, and what you can bring to your community, instead of the other way around !!
