Scholars show community spirit with Classic gesture

Scholars International Football
Club is giving back to the sport’s local community in a big way with the 2010
version of the Scholars Classic.

Scholars player Nikolai Hill said:
“We’re going to organise all the best players based here in the Cayman Islands
from Honduras, Jamaica and Cayman and put them into separate teams. We’ll play
a round robin tournament involving the Cayman national team and the Under-23s
to create four teams.”

The matches will be played on 4 and
11 August at the Ed Bush playing field in West Bay at 7pm and 5 and 12 August
at the TE McField Annex also at 7pm and 8 and 15 August at the Annex where the
finals will be.

Scholars have organised this to
help the national side prepare for the trip to Puerto Rico to play in the
Digicel Caribbean Cup from 18-22 August and for the Under-23s to limber up for
their World Cup and Olympic qualifiers.

This tournament is sponsored not
only by Scholars International but also Tony’s Toys. All the matches are free.
There is no entry fee for the teams either.

Scholars were Premier League champs last season.
