Woman, four children survive DUI wreck

A
33-year-old woman is recovering in hospital following a head-on collision on
Shamrock Road Sunday night.

Four
children inside her car during the wreck managed to escape serious injury. 

About
9.45 pm Sunday, Royal Cayman Islands Police said the woman was driving her
Toyota Prado east on Shamrock Road. As the vehicle approached Savannah Avenue
it collided with a Ford motor vehicle. 

The
Ford was turning right into Savannah Avenue from the westbound lanes of
Shamrock Road.

The
driver of the Prado was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital where she is being
treated for head and hip injuries. The four children in the Toyota at the time
of the collision were not injured, according to police.

The
driver of the Ford, a 27-year-old man, was not injured and was arrested on
suspicion of drink driving, police said.
