Call her Doctor Haines

The talented Lizzie Haines now has
another accomplishment to her credit.

Cayman Prep and High School join
her parents Derek and Helen Haines, in congratulating Lizzie on graduating with
Honours as a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Bristol, England.

Lizzy, 23, entered the university
in 2004, having gained 4 A levels, all at ‘A’ grade, in maths, chemistry,
biology and Spanish as a pupil at Cayman Prep and High School. While at university
Lizzy also took a separate course in neuroscience and was awarded a First Class
Honours BSc degree. She was also awarded the Dean’s prize of CI $8,000 for the
quality of her work.

Fluent in Spanish, Lizzy was
selected for the Erasmus programme and spent five months studying medicine at
the University and Hospital in Alicante, Spain. For her placement, in 2009 she
worked at hospitals in Quito and Amazonia, Ecuador.

Well-known on the local sporting
scene, Lizzy has represented Cayman in both swimming and triathlon at numerous
international events, and she captained the Cayman swim team at Carifta for 3

Lizzy is also a keen musician and
played the saxophone for both her university orchestra and swing band.

She will spend the next two years
at hospitals in England completing her residency — the first year at Tunbridge
Wells and the second at Guy’s and St. Thomas’, London.
