The Cayman Islands Motorcycle
Riders Association will be zooming away the summertime blues with a mighty ride
on Sunday, 29 August – and it’s all in a great cause.
The second annual fundraiser ride
for the Cayman Islands Diabetes Association, dubbed Cruising for a Cure, leaves
Boatswain’s Beach at 10am. The course runs through Seven Mile Beach, downtown,
South Sound and East End for a rest and drinks shop before ending at Driftwood
Bar and Grill for a special lunch menu of hamburger and fries. That costs $10
with all proceeds going to the diabetes association.
Sign-up can be done on the day and
interested riders are advised to come early to do so; free coffee and doughnuts
will be on hand and it’s $25 per bike. Organisers say that as it’s a diabetes
benefit everyone will be asked to wear a blue shirt but if you don’t have one
the ladies of the diabetes association will be selling Life is Sweet blue
shirts for $15.
“We hope that everyone on the
Island comes out to support this great cause,” said Keith Keller, president of
the Cayman Islands Motorcycle Riders Association.
“Not a motorcycle rider? No Problem
– come on out to either Boatswains or better the Driftwood and show your
support and donation to this community cause… and all for less than a Friday
night out at the bar.”
