Residents of Golden Age Home on
Hell Road, West Bay were all smiles recently when the Lions Club of Tropical
Gardens visited the home to host a lunch time social.
In keeping with the motto “We
Serve,” the group provided a three course meal for the 28 residents who enjoyed
the food and fellowship with one another. The residents gratefully expressed
their appreciation for the effort of the club and its members.
The reward of the day for Lions
members was getting the opportunity to see residents enjoy the company of
others and the look of appreciation on all the smiling faces. It was a
fulfilling occasion for members who also helped with serving and feeding those
who were unable to feed themselves.
Twenty-four bibs were also presented
to the staff of the Golden Age home to make their daily tasks and caring for
the residents a little easier.
Dawn Rankine, an officer at the
Children and Family Services expressed gratitude for the efforts of the club
and invited Lions members to tour the facility. She thanked the members and
extended an open invitation for their return.
Residents at the home, which is run
by the Department of Children and Family Services also had something else to
cheer about. They had recently moved back into the home on 216 Hell Road on the
21 July after waiting two years for the place to be renovated.
