Conyers’ Dacosta back in Cayman

Cayman Islands lawyer Gene Dacosta
has returned to the Cayman Islands following a year-long secondment in the
Conyers Dill & Pearman Hong Kong office.

During his time in Hong Kong, Mr.
Dacosta advised on a large number of asset financing and funds transactions,
working alongside lawyers in Conyers’ Hong Kong office to provide Cayman
Islands legal advice, as the Islands continue to be one of the most popular
domiciles for companies listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

“Gene’s experience adds to our deep
talent across numerous corporate disciplines, and we are pleased to welcome him
back to Cayman,” said Richard Finlay, managing partner of Conyers’ Cayman Islands

“His experience in Hong Kong, where
we act for over half of all offshore listings on Asian stock exchanges, will
prove invaluable in the Cayman market.”

Prior to his secondment, Mr.
Dacosta worked for six years in Conyers’ Cayman office advising on all aspects
of corporate and commercial law with a focus on mutual funds, shipping and
aircraft registration. He is a member of the Cayman Islands Bar Association,
the Cayman Islands Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, and is a notary
public in the Cayman Islands.

Conyers was recently named 2010’s
Offshore Law Firm of the Year by Asian Legal Business and continues to act as a
conduit for business from the region flowing into the Cayman Islands.
