Deadly Monsters maul Walkers

There will be a new champion in the
Domino’s Pizza Lady’s Division this season.

Hammerheads Lady Pirates and Lone
Star Jager Monsters will square off  on
Saturday to decide who gets bragging rights.

Hammerheads had an easy time on
Saturday as they rolled to a 56-0 win over Appleby in the first semi-final.
Bobeth O’Garro led the way once again for Hammerheads as she threw six
touchdown passes while going 18 of 25 with no interceptions.

O’Garro also had four tackles and
two interceptions for her defence. Scimone Campbell caught two of the touchdown
passes and also scored two touchdowns for the defence as she had three
interceptions two of which she took back all the way. Hong Ngyuen caught two
touchdown passes as well and had four tackles and two sacks for her defence.
Courtisha Ebanks and Christsania McLean each had one touchdown catch to round
out the Hammerheads scoring parade.

Appleby who beat Ace Paints and
Décor last week in the first round of the playoffs to advance to the semi-final
went behind early and could not rebound. Appleby who are a new team with very
little experience have progressed very well this year and did well to get to
the playoffs. Unfortunately, they ran into a much more experienced and very
talented Hammerheads squad who look poised to take the title. Antoniette
Thompson has led Appleby all year had a tough day throwing seven interceptions
while going 10 of 18 in the passing department. Shinette Rhoden was the
defensive star for Appleby with four tackles. Appleby will definitely be
amongst the contenders next year.

In the second semi-final Lone Star
Jager Monsters continued on the road to the top with a hard fought 20-6 win
over defending champs Walkers Wonders. The Jager Monsters were given up for
dead seven weeks ago but have rebounded and are playing their best football at
the right moment. They beat Chiro Spa last week in overtime 53-52 in what most
observers are claiming to be the one of the top three games played in Cayman Islands
Flag Football history. This earned them the chance to meet Walkers.

Ali Amos led the way for Lone Star
as she went 16 of 29 passing with three touchdown tosses and an interception.
Renee Thompson caught two of the scoring passes while Michelle McTaggart caught
the other. Wanda Brenton led the defence with three tackles and an interception
while Keisha Solomon had a strong game as well with seven tackles.

For Walkers who were without
starting QB Jordana Clark hung tough but the Monsters felt it was their time.
Cassandra Bodden stepped in at QB and went 12 of 27 passing with one
interception and a touchdown pass. Nicole Ramroop caught the lone scoring toss.
Bodden also led the defence with seven tackles. Walkers still played well
enough to win but just did not have enough players to complete the job

Hammerheads and Lone Star meet
Saturday at 2:30pm for the title.
