Robbery reported at Four Winds Esso

Police cordoned off an area outside the Four Winds Esso gas station in West Bay Thursday night after a robber apparently held up one of the store workers.

According to investigating officers, about 8.50pm Thursday, a male attendant was working in the forecourt of the Esso gas station at the four-way-stop in West Bay.

Police said the attendant was confronted by a male brandishing what appeared to be a firearm. Officers said the male forced the attendant inside the convenience store on the property before making off with a sum of cash.

No shots were fired and no one was injured.

The male suspect is described as being about 5’10”, with a clear complexion. He was wearing a grey-coloured long sleeved t-shirt, short blue jean pants, tennis shoes, a bandana and a black baseball cap.

Residents in the area initially stated that two men were involved in the heist, but there was no indication of a second man in the police report.

The RCIPS has asked that anyone who has any information about this crime, or who was in the area of the four-way-stop last night at the relevant time, to call West Bay police station on 949-3999 or the confidential Crime Stoppers number 800-8477(TIPS).

  1. Of course. It’s friday.

I am sure it’s obvious to more than just me. I can’t be the only one noticing these robbery’s are taking place near or on friday. They need money to "party".

  2. Crime, Crime, All the time. It just doesn’t stop. Government seems unconcerned with these robberies because at least they aren’t murders. This island is rapidly becoming unsafe, and if the police and the government can’t solve the problem, people will soon either solve the problem themselves or leave Cayman.

  3. It is so sad to read of all the crime on the beautiful Island of Grand Cayman. A far cry from when I grew up there, we didnt even need locks on our front doors in those days!!!
