Jingle is great for spirits

Each December many lament the
commercialisation of the holiday season and long for opportunities to
participate in meaningful celebrations and activities. The Cayman Islands
Crisis Centre offers just that with its annual Jingle Bell 5K/10K walk/run
hosted by Tiki Beach.

Calendars have been marked and
families and coworkers scheduled for 11 December for this joyful event that
helps victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault: the Annual Jingle Bell
event is Cayman Islands Crisis Centre’s signature event and major fundraiser.

This year participants can choose
to walk or run the 5k or 10k course from Tiki Beach through Yacht Drive. There
will be prizes for the top three finishers in both the 5K and 10K category, as
well as raffle prizes for children and adults. Complimentary breakfast will be
served at the finish line and, as always, Santa will join the fun!

The crisis centre is a charitable
organisation that provides safe, temporary shelter and support services for
abused women and their children and community education programmes regarding
domestic abuse and sexual violence. The Cayman Islands Crisis Centre offers counselling,
education, advocacy and community resources for women and their children. In
2009 The Cayman Islands Crisis Centre provided safe shelter for 92 women and
children and responded to 178 Crisis Calls regarding domestic abuse and sexual
assault.

In addition to participants for the
walk/run, the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre welcomes corporate sponsors and
businesses who can contribute goods or services valued at $25 for the prize
offerings. Sponsoring this event not only shows dedication to raising awareness
about the problems of domestic abuse and sexual assault in the Cayman Islands
but also offers an outing for employees that fosters camaraderie in a positive
environment and carries a small price tag in this year of continuing economic
challenges.
