Department of Immigration staff
donned pink clothes and accessories to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month last
week and raised $300 for the Cayman Islands Cancer Society.
The department was taking part in
the global awareness campaign.
A press release from the Department
of Immigration said that of the 163 immigration officers and administrative
staff, 118 are female.
“As they have in previous years,
staff members wore shirts, ribbons, pins and accessories to symbolise their
support of the initiative and the many women affected,” a statement from the
Chief Immigration Officer Linda
Evans praised her staff for their continued sensitivity to the issue, and encouraged
them to share the education message within their families and communities.
