Cayman student gets creative

Chantal Pearson Gooding, who
recently graduated from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus,
with a Bachelor of Arts degree in literature in English-Upper Second Class
(Honours), has been recognised for her creative writing skills.

Her short story The Return was
published in the University Literary Journal POUI, which features outstanding
course work from students in literature and the arts.

The aim of the journal is to
recognise budding Caribbean writers and to provide a forum in which outstanding
work can be published.

Chantal is pursuing a diploma in
education at UCCI and intends to continue post-graduate studies for her
master’s in education. She said her time at Cave Hill was challenging but
enlightening as it gave her the opportunity to interact with the best and
brightest in the Caribbean and to see the enormous potential of the region, particularly
in the framework of the integration movement.
