Tag Heuer times karters

A number of disciplines within
local motorsports are hosting events to stay busy this Christmas season. The
latest to keep gear-heads happy is go-karting.

Cayman Karting is set to launch its
winter corporate league in two weeks. Sponsored by Tag Heuer the competition is
slated to start 6 December at the go-kart track located on the Progressive Loop
on Sparky Drive in George Town.

The league is slated to run until 1
March 2011 and feature a number of different race formats. In addition to the
usual layout there will be reverse lay-outs and reverse grid events along with
endurance and Time Trial competitions. Races are slated to take place on Monday
and Tuesday nights.

There will be four drivers per race
with a minimum of one female. The league will feature two divisions and the
driver pool is unlimited for each squad. A member of the winning team will win
a TAG Heuer Formula 1 watch.

News of the winter corporate league
comes after the summer edition wrapped up about three months ago. Some 227 people
took part in that tournament, many of whom are current competitors in the local
autocross series.

Outside of the go-karting league
there are a number of developments on the local racing scene. Breakers Speedway
hosts an major local meet this weekend featuring some of Cayman’s fastest cars.
There are also plans for a Christmas/New Year’s race. The Cayman Motorsports
Association hosted its annual Al and Jay Bodden Memorial Time Attack last
weekend and will soon wrap up its dexterity race series.

There is a CI$1,000 entry fee for
the corporate go-karting league that includes T-shirts, a banner and a practice
session. The deadline for registration is next Monday 29 November. E-mail
