GPS for emergency services

The Flowers Group donated some early Christmas presents to the Emergency Medical Services this month when it gave four GPS navigation units to be used in local ambulances.

The global positioning systems will be used by paramedics to expedite responses of the emergency ambulance services. Stephen Duval, director of the Emergency Medical Services, said: “These GPS units without question will enhance our response capabilities.”

“This small contribution may save a life. In these hard economic times, Government cannot be expected to do everything, it is important for private business to assist whenever possible,” said Dara Flowers-Burke.

She and her husband Daniel Burke came up with the idea when they learned that the ambulances were not equipped with such units. “These GPS units are a small way that the Flowers Group can make a contribution that will benefit the society on a whole,”
said Mr. Burke.
