Deadline for filmmakers extended

The deadline for young filmmakers to enter a competition has been extended to Friday, 4 February.

Students ages 10 – 15 are eligible to participate in the second annual Young Image Makers Short Film Competition for 2011.

In the inaugural year last year, Jackson Messer was sent to the New York Film Academy’s Summer Movie Camp.

The Cayman National Cultural Foundation and the Cayman Islands Film Commission are sponsoring the competition in which a maximum of 10 students will be selected to attend a filmmaking workshop at CNCF.

Students need to present a creatively shot short film, one-three minutes in length (using any recording device, including cell phones) to be entered into the first round of the competition.

The final versions of the winners’ films will be posted on YouTube, and once voting (March 21 – April 8) has ended, all films will be shown at the Harquail Theatre on Saturday, April 16.

This year there will be a prize for the student who receives the most votes from the public, and again, one student will be sent to a New York Film Academy camp for one week (all expenses paid).
