‘Agnes of God’, a drama filled with mystery, faith and emotional power, will premiere on Saturday, 22 Nov. at the Harquail Studio Theatre.

Written by John Pielmeier and directed Henry Muttoo, this acclaimed drama invites audiences into an unforgettable exploration of belief and truth, said the Cayman National Cultural Foundation in a press release.
Performances run Saturdays through Sundays until 30 Nov., with a possible encore weekend on 6 to 7 Dec.
Presented as part of Cayman National Cultural Foundation’s Artist-in-Residence Programme, ‘Agnes of God’ explores the delicate intersection of faith, psychology, and the mystery of the human soul.
Acclaimed around the world for its depth and sensitivity, the play invites audiences to confront profound questions of belief, truth and the resilience of the spirit, said the release.
Set in a convent, the story begins when Sister Agnes, a young novice nun, is found to have given birth under mysterious circumstances – yet insists she remembers nothing. A court-appointed psychiatrist, Dr. Martha Livingstone, is called in to investigate, sparking a gripping confrontation with Mother Miriam, the convent’s formidable superior.

Together, the three women navigate a web of secrets, faith, and forgiveness in their search for understanding.
“Cayman is a community where faith and spirituality are deeply rooted,” said Cassandra Shea, CNCF’s head of theatre and festivals.
“What makes ‘Agnes of God’ so powerful is that it doesn’t offer easy answers it invites reflection. This play is about compassion, resilience and the mystery of faith in the face of trauma,” Shea added.
