Volunteers with the Hope for Today Halfway Houses will hold a barbecue fundraiser on Saturday, 5 February, at the Seven Mile Beach public beach.
Everyone is invited to stop by between 11.30am and 4pm to pick up some barbecued chicken for $6 and ribs for $8. Each meal includes potato salad and cole slaw. Soft drinks and bottled water are $1 each.
The Halfway Houses provide assistance and programmes for recovering addicts, spokesman Frank Volinsky explained. The campus, located in West bay, has separate residences for men and women.
Hope for Today is relatively new on the Island (Caymanian Compass, 13 December). This barbecue is the group’s first effort to raise money to help with expenses.
Mr. Volinsky noted that food and drinks for the barbecue were sponsored by Progressive Distributors and Bodden Beverages.
