Women United defeated Future SC 5-2 last Saturday at the Ed Bush Stadium as they continued their unbeaten run and lead in the point standings of the Cayman Island Football Association Women’s League.
Women United went ahead in the 13th minute with a goal from Nikki Ebanks. Future equalised in the 24th minute but Chelsea Brown sent her team in the lead five minutes later.
United came out with a vengeance in the second half but in the 52nd minute Future’s Kimberly Rivers equalised. The game got even better as United tried for all three points. Xotchilt Watler got the vital goal in the 74th minute.
In the 83rd minute national Under-17 striker Shannelle Frederick scored for Women United and Watler completed her double in the 89th minute.
Women United’s Chelsea Brown is the leading goal scorer with five goals while Kymberly Rivers has three, Kimberlyn Petgrave, Nikki Ebanks, Shanelle Frederick and Xotchilt Watler from Women United have two goals apiece. Tatiana Ebanks of Future SC and Petrina Bernard of Elite SC, have two goals as well while Jetena Bodden of Scholars International and Crystal Barnes of Future SC has one goal each.
Five teams are competing in this season’s competition; defending champions Sunset SC, Women United, Scholars International FC, Future SC and Elite SC.
