Westin hotel has new manager

The Westin Casuarina hotel is under new management following the appointment of receivers.

WMC Limited – an affiliate of Pyramid Hotel Group – will supervise day-to-day operations and focus on trading activities. The Boston-based hotel and resort management company has over 35 years of experience and 64 hospitality assets throughout the United States and the Caribbean. The company will work with accountancy expert Russell Smith of Johnson Smith Associates Limited, a co-receiver of the Westin’s operating company, Galleon Beach Resort Limited.

Larry Vitagliano of WMC Limited said it would be ‘business as usual’.

“There will not be any disruptions for guests, bookings, events, staffing, vendors or suppliers… we recognise the importance of the Westin to the Cayman Islands tourism market and we wanted to ensure that the transition to the new management team does not in any way inconvenience guests, function bookings or visitors to Seven Mile Beach.”

He said that WMC Limited would be operating the Westin for the forseeable future until the hotel was returned to profitability.
