Fidelity’s Cross Island Relay boasted a record number of participants three weeks ago as 81 teams vied for top place.
Organised by the Hash House Harriers, the race covered 24 miles beginning at Gun Bay in East End and ending at Smith’s Cove.
Winning team, British Bulldogs came in with a time of 2 hours 26 minutes and 2 seconds, followed closely by Beat the Brits at a time of 2:27:57.
UBS took the corporate division coming in at 2:34:19. Not to be out done, Mums on the Run finished with a time of 3:21:57 to win the women’s category.
“It was a great event with exciting races in each of the three categories (open, corporate and women),” said Tom Gammage of Fidelity. “We congratulate the Hash House Harries in achieving a record number of teams this year with over 480 runners. We look forward to working together with Hash in the future to ensure the event’s continued success.”
Paul Schreiner of the Hash House Harriers, thanked all participating teams. He said: “It was very encouraging to see the amount of people that came out. I believe it shows that people are becoming more active and more aware of how important healthy lifestyles are.
