Try night pottery

There’s a scene in the Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau independent comedy ‘Made’ where Vaughn’s character smokes a cigarette indoors and gets in trouble with one of the workers at a pottery business where you can mould your own work out of clay, bake it, then paint whatever you feel like.

In Made, Vaughn wants to paint an ashtray.

At All Fired Up in The Strand, you won’t find any smoking customers, but you’ll find plenty of fun and laughs, especially on the last Friday night of each month, as customers gather to paint their own pottery and mosaics.

“Late night painting provides people who can’t always make our regular business hours with an opportunity to come in and paint until 10pm,” says Theresa Van Lare of the pottery place.

“In order to partake, we simply ask that they book the day before so that we can accommodate them fully.”

It’s all about having a good time after a long week of work.

All Fired Up sells painted pottery pieces and hand-crafted items by artists on island.

They also host a number of classes for adults and children each month, and they offer art instruction for children who are home-schooled.

“It’s a very relaxed atmosphere,” Van Lare adds. “One can bring their own drinks and snacks and take their time to create their very own masterpieces, whether it’s painting ceramics or a mosaic.”
