Ja. limits cell phone mailings

Anyone planning to mail a cell phone to Jamaica should be aware of a new policy implemented by Jamaican authorities.

The Postal Corporation of Jamaica Ltd. will no longer accept inbound packages that contain mobile phone unless the phones are sent in manufacturer’s packaging.

The Cayman Islands Postal Service has advised that this policy is in immediate effect.

For potential shippers in Cayman, this means the Postal Corporation of Jamaica Ltd will not be liable for damage to mobile phones sent in any packaging other than that of the manufacturer.

Postal authorities made the decision in accordance with the Universal Postal Unions Convention.
