Conyers Dill & Pearman has donated $2,675 to sponsor student Ruth-Beth Jackson’s visit to the White House in Washington. DC, where she will attend the 2011 Global Young Leaders Conference as a Student Ambassador this summer.
The Young Leaders is a leadership development programme for high-achieving students from around the world.
Ruth was nominated by Arthurlyn Pedley of Cayman Prep and High School due to her strong leadership potential and academic excellence.
“GYLC is a wonderful programme to help students like Ruth enhance their leadership skills,” said Kevin Butler, a partner of Conyers Dill & Pearman. “Ruth’s application and recommendation letter stood out and made it an easy decision to sponsor her.”
The Youth Leadership programme brings together outstanding young people from around the world to build critical leadership skills in a global context.
Student Ambassadors are carefully evaluated with regard to their character, academic achievement and leadership skills within their community.
The aim of the programme is to give high-achieving students ages 16-18 a greater understanding of their roles as global ambassadors while analysing concepts of communications, diplomacy, law, human rights, peace, security, economics and the role of the United Nations.
