Gaza is Premier’s topper

Elite Football Club had a brilliant season in winning the Premier League and none of the West Bay side’s players enjoyed it more than Dwayne ‘Gaza’ Wright, the dynamic striker who topped the scoring charts with 18 goals, all coming in the league.

Gaza, 22, was in his first season with Elite after leaving Roma last term but he quickly settled in and was pleased to get the winner on Sunday in their 2-1 victory against George Town which ensured he beat team-mate Alex Belcher by one goal as the league’s top scorer.

Belcher was suspended for the last match. Wright said: “I’ve had a magnificent first season with Elite and couldn’t have asked for more. Our only downfall was in the cups because we had the attitude that we were on such a long winning streak in the league we couldn’t be beaten.

“I think next season will be even greater. I’m going to train even harder and want to top what I’ve achieved this season.”
