Teed up by kind bank

The Cayman Islands national golf championships tee off at the North Sound Club next week and the title sponsors, Cayman National Corporation, came through with a massive donation to ensure the competition goes smoothly.

Being held over 21-22 May, there will be championship and handicap competitions for both men and women. Entries must be submitted by 18 May.

Winners of this competition will be eligible to attend the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships in Trinidad in August.

Claudia Welds of Cayman National Corporation presented Joel Dodson, president of the golf association, with a cheque for $3,500.

Dodson said: “We are extremely grateful for Cayman National Corporation’s support for golf here in the Cayman Islands.

This is our national championship and it is great to have a title sponsor of Cayman National’s stature.”

Welds is Cayman National’s corporate communication senior executive.

She said: “We are extremely pleased that we could come on board as the title sponsor. Cayman National’s commitment to good corporate citizenship includes the support and encouragement of all types of sports within these Islands, and wish we wish the golf association much success in this tournament.”
