Man arrested after wife dies in crash

Police have arrested the husband of a 64-year-old woman who died Monday,
almost a week after she was injured in an accident involving the vehicle her
husband was driving.

The husband, also aged 64, was arrested at Owen Roberts International
Airport Tuesday, 17 May, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was the driver of a Suzuki Liana which collided with a black
Chevrolet Colorado on Jubilee Lane, off Batabano Road, West Bay, around 9.45pm
on Tuesday, 10 May.

The 23-year-old local man who was driving the Chevrolet was not injured
in the crash.

The husband sustained a cut to his shin, as did a 58-year-old male
passenger who was in the back seat of the Suzuki.

The driver’s wife, who had been the front seat passenger, was taken to
the Cayman Islands Hospital after complaining of head and back pain and was
admitted for observation.

Hospital staff informed the police Monday that the woman had died.

The couple had been visiting Cayman from Ohio, US.

Anyone who was in the area and witnessed the crash is asked to contact
Inspector Adrian Barnett of the RCIPS Traffic Management Department on

  1. Now there has got to be more to this story. I would hate to think the RCIPS would arrest an old man grieving the recent lost of his wife to a tragic accident without proper cause. It would be adding more sorry to his pain to get blamed for her death if it wasn’t actually his faultPlease give us more on this
