Winners receive cash prize and trophy following 4 June performance
The kids shall play.
The Young Musician of the Year – a production of the National Children’s Festival of the Arts sponsored by Butterfield – celebrates its 4th annual awards and performance evening on Saturday, 4 June.
The Butterfield Young Musician of the Year Award recognises excellence in music and aims to give competitors a platform to showcase musical talent.
Promoting study in the arts
Since its launch in 2008, the award has featured many talented young musicians from the Cayman Islands and continues to enrich and encourage further study in the arts.
“Arts and cultural programmes bring together community members in a positive way by sharing the talents of diverse groups, by supporting the development of individual artists and by giving the public a greater appreciation of different cultural perspectives around them,” said Sheree Ebanks, a director at Butterfield. “Supporting the development and aspirations of young people is important to us, and we are excited once again to sponsor the Young Musician of the Year.”
In addition to awarding the young musician of the year, this year’s event will also feature prizes for the first and second runners-up.
Winners will receive a cash prize and trophy, courtesy of Butterfield’s sponsorship.
The Butterfield Young Musician of the Year 2011 takes place at 7pm at the Harquail Theatre. Admission is free.
