Appleby employees have donated more than $28,000 to several local charities.
During the last financial year, employees in the Appleby Cayman office were given the opportunity to dress down on Fridays by making a donation to their choice of two charities, the Cayman Islands Cancer Society or Cayman Hospice Care.
In addition, three special dress down days took place during the year and the funds raised were donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, MOvember and the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens’ Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.
Appleby Cayman Managing Partner Huw Moses noted that, “Cayman Hospice Care and the Cayman Islands Cancer Society provide critical services to our community and aim to improve quality of life, an ideal that Appleby strongly supports locally and globally.”
Cayman Hospice Care is a not-for profit-organisation committed to providing dignified, quality comfort care, free of charge, to everyone in the Cayman Islands living with end-stage diseases. Cayman Hospice Care is also committed to enhancing and improving the lives of all those affected by death, and to assuring long-term emotional, spiritual and general well-being to survivors after loss.
Jennifer Grant-McCarthy, fundraising manager of Cayman Hospice Care, which received over $16,000, said, “We are incredibly proud of the work we do at Cayman Hospice Care and the treatment and care we are able to provide to the terminally ill and their families is only possible with community support. The difference that Appleby’s donation will make to the continued operation of Cayman Hospice Care is enormously appreciated. This donation goes a long way in making the extraordinary end of life care we provide possible.”
The Cayman Islands Cancer Society aims to increase awareness of cancer within the Cayman Islands, to initiate positive change, to prevent the development of the disease and to support cancer patients and their families.
“Appleby’s support of the Society will greatly assist us in our achieving our mission,” said Jennifer Weber, operations manager of the Cayman Islands Cancer Society.
“Cancer is a major health concern within the Cayman Islands and we believe that our work is crucial in improving the quality of life and health for everyone. The Society is very pleased and grateful that Appleby and its employees have shown their support for our cause, and we commend them for making such a positive contribution to our community,” she added.
