A man was robbed leaving his home just after dawn on Friday, the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service reported.
Police said the victim was confronted as he walked toward his vehicle on Crewe Road by one man with a handgun and two others with machetes.
Officers said the man handed over “substantial amounts” of cash to the robbers. They also took his cell phone and some other items that police did not identify.
No one was hurt in the incident. Police searched the area where the heist occurred, but no arrests were immediately reported.
The man with the gun was described as 6’2″ tall. All three suspects were said to be wearing black clothes, gloves and masks.
