Two people were hospitalised early Friday after a car accident on Shamrock Road.
At about 1am, officers in Bodden Town clocked a Nissan exceeding the speed limit in a twenty-five mile-per-hour zone on Bodden Town Road. Police said the vehicle was travelling towards George Town when officers signaled for the vehicle to stop.
Police said the Nissan sped out of sight and the driver of the vehicle lost control, crashing into a large rock on Shamrock Road by Guard House Hill.
The 34-year-old driver of the vehicle suffered serious injuries to his neck and chest, police said. The 22-year-old passenger suffered leg, arm and chest injuries, police said.
Both driver and passenger were taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital. The passenger was released following treatment. The driver is still being treated in hospital.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and careless driving, police said.
