Cutest babies, tough decision

It’s official: the most adorable babies and toddlers in Cayman have been found.

Last month the Caymanian Compass launched a competition in collaboration with Picture This to find the cutest and most photogenic baby or toddler in the islands. Parents and guardians were invited to submit photos of their little ones, between ages 2 months and 36 months, for consideration in the competition.

Brian Uzzell, managing director of Cayman Free Press, and Anne Mason, marketing supervisor, chose the winning image from more than 150 entries.

“We had a lot of entries to go through but we eventually managed to whittle it down to a final 20, then a final five, and then made the hard decision of picking the winner and the runner-up,” said Uzzell. “I was very encouraged by the great response we had and I would like to thank all the parents for sending in the lovely photos of their children.”

The winner of the 2011 Baby & Toddler Competition is Madison Williams, 20 months old, from Savannah. According to her mother, Jasmine Williams, the winning photo was taken at her grandmother’s birthday party. “She was out way beyond her bedtime, but still in glorious spirits. She’s a cutie to us of course, but we are happy to hear she’s a cutie to others too,” says Williams.

Camille Allard, 16 months, a George Town resident, was selected as runner-up. Julie-Ann Allard, Camille’s mum, entered both Camille and her twin brother in the competition, but believes the way the photo showed off Camille’s blue eyes was the clincher.

The winners receive a professional photo shoot with Rebecca or Amy from Picture This.

One image from the winner’s photo shoot will be selected for the front cover of the Cayman Free Press Baby & Toddler supplement, which will be inserted in the Caymanian Compass on Thursday, 15 September. The winner also receives one 8×10 and one 5×7 print of the baby and a wallet book. The runner-up also receives a free studio session.
