Robbery suspects take empty register

Two armed men attempted to rob
a Grand Cayman fast food restaurant Thursday night via the drive-thru window,
Royal Cayman Islands Police said.

Just after 10.30pm Thursday,
police said a man with a firearm and another armed with a machete approached
the drive-thru window of the KFC on West Bay Road.

Police said the taller of the
two suspects – a thin 6’ tall male armed with a gun – ran off empty-handed from
the restaurant. Witnesses said the man attempted to get into a locked vehicle
in the nearby parking lot but did not succeed.

The second suspect – a 5’ 3”
male armed with a machete – reached through the drive-thru window and grabbed
the cash register inside the store.

KFC management said there was
no money in the register when it was taken.

No shots were fired and no one
was injured in the incident, police said.
