Officers of the George Town and West Bay Neighbourhood Police Departments made a presentation at the Purple Dragon dojo last week for 20 campers ranging in ages from four to 15.
The presentation focused on a variety of topics such as bullying, peer pressure, honour, self-respect, and determination. Instructors, Sense Floyd and Sherika, said they were extremely pleased with the way the officers delivered their topics, which was interactive and exciting for the kids.
The officers were treated to an enthusiastic martial arts demonstration by the students.
Police Constable Ian Charley, one of the organisers and presenters, said, “It is very important for the kids to see the police in a different light.”
The officers said their message to the students was a simple one: If you intend to excel in life, be respectful, avoid negative influences and remain positive. Sense Floyd said he was impressed with the RCIPS and the work that the community officers have been doing.
