The Maples 2011/2012 community junior rugby programme is about to get going in Cayman.
The Cayman Islands Rugby Football Union is pleased to announce that the junior programme will start up again this month. The programme is designed to deliver rugby to the youth of Cayman for the future growth of the sport on home soil.
Families can come together to catch the action at the Cayman rugby football club in South Sound on Saturday mornings. At that time volunteer coaches will be working with academy squads in Under-8/U10 and U12/U15 age groups. Some of those groups also meet on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons after school.
The programme reaches approximately 350 children in Cayman anually. The major highlight of the season is the Conyers Challenge Cup where the children involved in the programme get the opportunity to taste what for many is their first real exposure in international sports against Bermuda’s youth rugby programme.
