Lionfish culling competition coming up

A lionfish culling competition is scheduled for the weekend of 17 and 18 September. 

Comfort Suites and Ambassador Divers have teamed up to offer a special package rate for diving and hotel accommodations for guests travelling from overseas. Prizes will be awarded to teams capturing the smallest lionfish, the largest lionfish, the most number and the greatest overall weight. There will be several other random prizes awarded. 

Check-in time for the contest will be at 7.30am on Saturday, 17 September at Ambassador Divers located next to Comfort Suites on West Bay Road, Grand Cayman. The first 100 divers will receive the special edition commemorative lionfish culling tournament T-shirt. 

All culled lionfish must be kept cold on ice and brought to the weigh-in at the Seven Mile Public Beach each afternoon at 4pm. A sampling of lionfish will be grilled by Michael’s Genuine Food and Drink and offered free of charge to the public on the afternoon of Sunday, 18 September, at the final weigh-in and awards presentation.
