Post Office encourages early sending
The Cayman Islands Postal Service has announced deadlines for Christmas mail so cards, packages and letters get to their intended recipients before the coming holidays.
One fast-approaching deadline, for example, is Friday, 28 October – for surface mail to the Caribbean. For surface mail to the United Kingdom, Western Europe, the United States and Canada, the deadline is Friday, 4 November.
In addition to mailing deadlines, the post office has offered reminders for making the mailing process less onerous.
Heightened security measures are still in place, so packages 16 ounces or more have to be examined by Cayman Islands Postal Service counter staff.
Jamaica Post does not accept mobile phones not in their original packaging.
Do not send cash through the post.
Perfumes or liquor of 70 per cent proof or more are just some of the items on the prohibited list.
Other suggestions include:
Update Christmas lists to ensure addresses are correct and current.
Write legibly and include a return address.
Use white labels on coloured envelopes.
