Camana Bay wins Magellan Award

Camana Bay is celebrating winning an award for best waterfront development.

The gong was given in the Travel Weekly Magellan Awards 2011. The judges felt Camana Bay was a destination within a destination, calling it ‘a vibrant town on the idyllic island of Grand Cayman.’

It praised the sea-to-sea town for its mix of residential and commercial spaces, shopping and dining options and urbanist development.

Very excited

Bianca Freeland, Camana Bay’s public relations coordinator, expressed delight at the news.

“We are very excited about placing first in the Caribbean-Overall Destinations-Waterfront Development category of the 2011 Travel Weekly Magellan Awards. It is a testament to the unique mix of thoughtfully designed residential and commercial spaces, world-class shopping and dining, family-friendly entertainment, events and attractions that makes Camana Bay stand out among other Caribbean destinations,” Ms Freeland said.

“This is a win not only for Camana Bay, but also for Cayman as the international publicity surrounding this year’s award winners will help to raise awareness for our Islands.”

Travel Weekly said the 2011 Magellan Awards received entries from top travel organisations and professionals worldwide. It said that the quality of the work was outstanding. Being selected a Magellan Award Winner, according to the organisers, is a ‘tremendous achievement’ and shows a high standard of excellence within the travel industry.
