The Dive Equipment and Marketing Association’s major annual show takes place from 2-5 November in Orlando, Florida.
It is the only international trade-only event for the diving, action water sports and travel industries and presents an opportunity for suppliers, customers and professionals to connect and discuss future plans, events and new developments within the industry.
As well as the exhibit floor, which features hundreds of industry suppliers, there are other events and seminars.
Seminars
On Wednesday, 2 November, the seminars include social media, sales tactics, getting the most from investment in a business, cause marketing, how to listen to the market, digital relationships, and proactive retailing.
Thursday’s seminars include shoestring marketing, data collating, planning, public relations and an update on the state of the online diving market.
Friday’s talks are on social media, online technologies, referrals, closing sales and market mapping. On Saturday, 5 November, sessions include a lionfish presentation and developing a strategic vision for the recreational diving industry heading toward 2020.
Showcases
There are also special sessions and exhibitor-sponsored seminars, plus a new product showcase which shows the latest technologies and innovations to hit the industry. There is even a scuba demonstration pool where visitors can test out some of these new products. There also is a silent auction of donated items and a special DEMA booth, which will educate visitors about the sinking of retired vessels for artificial reefs, described as ‘a proven way to increase diver acquisition and retention’.
The trade show is based at Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. Attendance is limited to trade professionals.
