On courts where more seasoned and famous players will be playing on soon, the October session of the Cayman National Tennis Tens took place recently at the Ritz-Carlton under the direction of head pro Thomas Neuert.
Watch out Philippoussis, Hingis and co – these kids are coming! After putting them through a warm up sequence where the children immediately began to accumulate stars or points for attitude as well as execution, coach Neuert began the skills portion – vital in any kids progression.
Then it came to the matches and the final third of the day. The increased competitiveness and determination shown by the youngsters over the last year since Cayman National came on board has been remarkable.
Playing with softer balls than usual also helps ensure the rallies are longer and helps raise skill levels. Winner was Bobby Lomax on his first appearance in a Cayman National tennis tens event.
